Pearl barley is whole barley that has had the outer bran removed. By removing the outer bran, pearl barley cooks slightly quicker than pot barley as it does not require pre-soaking. This makes it ideal for adding to soups and stews, but also in stir-fry or pilaf. Pearl barley is the most common form of barley for consumption as it cooks faster and is less chewy. It is a hearty and tasty grain.

Pearl Barley is a very good source of molybdenum, manganese, dietary fiber, and selenium, and a good source of copper, vitamin B1, chromium, phosphorus, magnesium, and niacin. |How to Use||
Cook in soups or by themselves. Makes for an extremely healthy side dish and an awesome mushroom and barley soup! Can be used to bake with breads as well.

Store in a cool, dry place; Away from sunlight.
To cook, bring 1 cup barley and 2 1/2 cups water or broth to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer; cook, covered, until tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed, 40 to 50 minutes. Let stand five minutes. Makes 3-3 1/2 cups.
